SUMMARY

 

J. Šušol: Electronic forms of publishing and the activity of a library

In the study the electronic publishing is characterized as a form of publication activity by which means of advanced communication and information technologies are put to use acting as communication channel. Basic features and differences of traditional and electronic publishing are introduced as well as concepts of electronic publication definition in the light of particularities of communication in the network electronic environment. The analysis of institutional pattern of publishing focuses on mediatorial functions of publishers and libraries with the emphasis on the field of professional or scientific information publishing. The core of the study is the presentation of alternative forms of publishing in the electronic network environment with targeting the open access initiatives, e-prints and institutional self-archiving.

J.Fišerová: On publishing in a library. One view from the Municipal Library of Prague

The report brings particular examples of publication activity in the Municipal Library of Prague and a few related practical findings obtained. It is logically concerned time-limited selection necessarily conditioned by possibilities and conditions of the Municipal Library of Prague. It follows possible inspiration offering for the other libraries and searching for a given concept it tries to contribute with certain statement to basic crocks for possible professional theoretical essays on a given subject.
