| SUMMARY
Information technologies influence all areas of human activity and logically they do not avoid the library work either. The existence of the electronic information sources as products of IT implementation and making them accessible creates step by step the important part of the library practice. The libraries of the incoming era - i. e. the digital libraries - must accept the new reality and take it into account when manipulating with electronic sources since their coming to library or since the moment of information obtaining on their existence until making them accessible to users. The work with the electronic sources is not being exclusively restricted to traditional library processing but it is preceded by a few next steps related to decision making and source licensing. At the end of the chain and in fact the whole library effort, there is a user there, who expects relevant answers to his or her questions and quality services af the institutions paid by the public resources.
H. Nová: Access to electronic information sources in the libraries of the Czech Republic The article describes the development and situation in acquisition and availability of the electronic information sources in the libraries in the Czech Republic since the end of 90ies of the last century to the present time. It mentions the creation of the first library consortium and puts mind to particular programs for the support of acquiring databases access. It shows new trends in databases accessing. It outlines problems of missing platform for nationwide coordination.
