The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic (MESRS SR), as the administrator of the state S&T policy in collaboration with the National Centre for the Popularisation of Science and Technology in Society (NCP S&T), an organisational unit of the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information, organises a conference “Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia“.
Main events within the Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia.
Opening ceremony. By tradition, this is an introductory event which opens the Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia conference and provides information on events organised within the week of S&T.
5th conference “Quo Vadis Education in Science and Technology at Secondary Schools?” This conference is organised by the civic association Young Scientists of Slovakia in collaboration with the NCP S&T SCSTI in association with the country-wide competitive exhibition of inventive projects of students at secondary schools for the Scientia Pro Futuro awards.
Fine Arts Competition for students at elementary schools and at eight-year gymnasia. The prime aim is to the interest of students from the higher levels of elementary schools and gymnasia in scientific research and promote their orientation towards the career of a research scientist.
Graphic design competition for students at secondary schools and universities. The leitmotif of this competition is to encourage students at secondary schools and universities (including PhD students) and provide them with an opportunity to present their own views of the Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia.
The National Conference provides representatives of academic, state, entrepreneurial and not-for-profit research institutes, with an opportunity to discuss a pre-determined topic.
Gala Ceremony is the highlight of the Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia, during which the winners are awarded the prizes of the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic and the partners of the event, usually in the following categories:
Events accompanying the Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia
Within the Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia, a large number of accompanying events are organised by individual participating unions, associations, R&D organisations, Ministries, regional self-governments, universities and schools across Slovakia. These events take the form of lectures, seminars, project presentations, conferences, workshops, days of open doors, exhibitions, etc.
